AFGE LOCAL 3529 PROPOSED BYLAWS CHANGES
Section 4. Change the number 15 in the 4th and 5th sentences to the number 23. Section 18. Add new 3rd sentence that reads This Local shall use mail ballot procedures shown in the AFGE Election Manual, Attachment 14, as amended. Change the current 3rd sentence to read The Executive Board, by August 1st of each election year, shall appoint an Election Committee of three members, two of which have to be from the same metropolitan area. (This will now be sentence #4) Section 19. Insert this section after the current section 19. All other sections would be renumbered accordingly. On the third Thursday in August of each election year, the Election Committee will mail a notice to all members in good standing to submit nominations for elected officers. This notice will inform members of the method for making nominations and that nominations must be submitted between September 1 and September 15 of that election year. On the 4th Tuesday in September, the Election Committee will mail the notice of election. This notice will show that the ballots have to be received by the Election Committee by 4:00 P.M. local time on the 4th Tuesday of October of that election year. The election results will be announced no later than two days after the ballot return date. The elected officers will be installed immediately thereafter.
